How the PCT Works at St Andrew's

Unlock Potential, Track Progress, and Celebrate Achievement

We know that traditional testing doesn't capture each student's full capabilities. The PCT seeks to address this. It captures a student's journey over a period of time, visualising the skills, involvement, capabilities, and personal growth. It helps us capture what makes each student genuinely unique and provides an opportunity to celebrate and encourage those personal traits that we value.

How it Works
  • Schools are guided through a design process by where the purpose and structure of their Learner Profile are decided.
  • Learner Profile categories and credits are created in the CANVAS learning management system using a specific set of parameters and code that allows them to be extracted and visualised.
  • Students fill in compulsory components and then choose from the curated list of credits to upload 'self-evidence'. Part of this evidence process involves self-reflection on goals met and personal growth.
  • Teachers will then 'endorse' student submissions, often involving a conversation that benefits both by building relationships and celebrating often unknown involvement or achievements.
  • The interactive Learner Profile is then automatically updated on a portal set up by the PortalHQ developers. The portal visualizes the credits and gives students and parents instant access. The Learner Profile can either sit on the portal or be printed off when needed for resumes or portfolios.

Each Learner Profile Transcript can be Customised

The SAIL team can help you design a contextualised Learner Profile for your school. As seen above, elements such as categories and credit outcome architecture can be easily adapted to your specific needs.

Options include:
  • Capture activities within a term, a year or 6 years
  • Capture a specific signature program
  • Capture specific students on a modified course pathway
  • Capture all senior students as part of a graduate portfolio
  • Reset the transcript each year or build over a number of years

Seamless Integration with CANVAS, TASS and other LMS's

Integrating seamlessly with CANVAS, TASS and other LMS's, the Learner Profile sits in a familiar platform for ease of use. Schools have full flexibility in managing, updating, and sharing credit categories and outcomes ensuring that every student's learner profile is relevant and accessible. This integration simplifies the evidence submission through the assignment feature and staff endorsing is 'one click' through a rubric, making it simple and time efficient for staff to use.
